Notification of Soft Operation

The Dutch Prime Minister, Mr. J.P. Balkenende, on his 2 days visit to Indonesia, tried out on April 8th, 2006, the latest technology deployed in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport for immigration clearence : the Automatic Boder Passage using iris recognition. The Automatic Boder Passage is one of the privileges of  Saphire, the airport priority program developed by PT. Angkasa Pura Schiphol and Directorate General of Immigration. With this, he witnessed the start of the operation of Saphire.

At the moment, Saphire is in soft operation.  In this period Saphire members can enjoy the privilege of using Automatic Border Passage (ABP) to fast track through immigration both upon Departure and Arrival. State-of-the-art iris recognition technology is used.  Border passage takes only 10 seconds. Also members can enjoy the privilege of preferred check-in at the airline participating in Saphire program. The other privileges, preferred parking and preferred security lanes can be enjoyed in a few weeks time.

Anyone who fulfills the immigration requirements can join the Saphire program. People joining during the soft operation are entitled to a reduced annual fee. The Saphire Service Center, during soft operation, open Monday to Friday from 8 am till 5 pm.
